Washington Weekend

Welcome from President Emmert

UW President Mark EmmertDear Alumni and Friends:
It is my great pleasure to invite you to the inaugural Washington Weekend, April 21-23, 2005. Over these three days, our three campuses welcome you to rediscover and reconnect with the University of Washington.

This past July, I returned to the UW as President and encountered the same spirit of discovery that I experienced some 30 years ago as an undergraduate. My student experience at the University was transformative. Today, we want students and others who come to — or come back to — the UW to have the opportunity for their own transformative experiences.

Thanks to the quality and ambition of its people and programs — and the ongoing support of our alumni and friends — the UW continues to foster this intellectual spirit by pushing the frontiers of knowledge. You'll sense this throughout the weekend, whether you visit the Health Sciences Open House, tour the oceanographic research vessel Thomas G. Thompson, or attend the Evans School of Public Affairs Alumni Seminars.

Washington Weekend offers just a sample of some of the amazing work taking place here at the UW. Please take advantage of this opportunity to explore, enjoy, educate and reconnect with your University. Through your continued support and participation, we are creating better futures for our region and beyond.

Mark Emmert, '75
President
