The Inside Scoop: From the desk of Chuck Blumenfeld
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: We couldn’t do what we do, as successfully as we do it, without the support and dedication of our volunteers. Year in, year out, you’re there when we need you. And this year was no exception.
From our annual First Day at Red Square in September to the final Finals Bites in June, our events ran like clockwork, gave students, alums, parents and friends a chance to experience the best the UW Alumni Association has to offer, and were lots of fun to boot. Looking back now, it’s hard to believe we did so much in the past nine months. You all are incredible!
This year we were pleased to present the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service Award to Robb Weller, ’72, noted TV personality and producer, for his outstanding efforts as a dedicated volunteer working on behalf of the association and the UW over the years.
A special thanks to Dennis, ’72, and Connie Anderson, ’68, who were once again invaluable to the success of the Port Orchard stop of the UW Coaches Tour in June. Every year since 2003, Dennis and Connie have worked to line up event sponsors, enlist volunteers to help with event-day decorations and raffle tickets and generally help make sure the day resonates with coaches and Dawg fans in support of UW student scholarships. They are passing the torch to Chris Casad, ’74, ‘77, but we are grateful to the Andersons for their generous commitment over the years and they have assured me of their continuing assistance.
It’s been a truly fantastic year. Hopefully, you will be able to join us at one of our summer events, where we have a chance to relax, reflect and have some fun before the onslaught of fall. From all of us at the UWAA, I just want to say “thank you” for your part in helping make 2007-08 a standout year for us.
I can’t wait to see you again next year!
Best,

Chuck Blumenfeld, ’66, ‘69
