HUSKIES HELPING HUSKIES
Want to make a difference in the lives of other Huskies? Volunteer to be a Career Connections contact or a Career Mentor (Mentors needed Winter Quarter only.) Career Connections contacts nationwide offer information about their field, and networking referrals to UW students and UWAA members who are exploring their career options. Volunteers from all occupations and geographic locations are encouraged to sign up, and receive the satisfaction of sharing their experiences and know-how with others who are just starting out, or considering a career transition. Your time commitment is flexible, and your contact can be by phone, email, or in person-it's up to you!

If you live in the Seattle area and are interested in a more in-depth experience, check out the UWAA/OMA Career Mentor Program. Each mentor is matched with a student in the UW Educational Opportunity Program during winter quarter (January - March 2005), according to the student's career interests. Mentors maintain contact with their students throughout the quarter, providing encouragement and real-world perspective to help supplement the students' academic development. The experience is educational and rewarding for both, helping to pave the way for the student's transition to a successful career, as well as offering the mentor a glimpse of today's campus experience.

For more information and online registration for Career Connections, visit the Career Connections site. If you're interested in becoming a Career Mentor, please e-mail Don Gallagher at crmentor@u.washington.edu.
