Walla Walla Wine Weekend Itinerary


Our wine weekend begins as we arrive at our leisure at the Marcus Whitman Hotel.

We'll meet early evening as a group and stroll to nearby Otis Kenyon Tasting Room. Proprietors and UW Alums Steve Kenyon and Deborah Dunbar will discuss their foray into the wine industry and their unique family history.

Topping our first night together, we’ll walk to an acclaimed local restaurant where we will enjoy a gourmet fare expertly paired with wines.

Our day begins with a delicious continental breakfast followed by a discussion with Dr. Kevin Pogue, chairman of the Geology Department at Whitman College and a leading terroir expert. Dr. Pogue will prepare us for our tour in the vineyards as we explore what make the wines of the Walla Walla Valley so unique.

We depart the hotel at 11 a.m. for our wine tours of four award winning wineries owned and operated by UW Alumni, Spring Valley Vineyard, Tamarack Cellars, Three Rivers Winery and Woodward Canyon Winery. Winemakers will be on hand to discuss and pour tastings which will showcase current and new releases. We’ll also enjoy a gourmet box lunch, overlooking the vineyards and the beautiful Blue Mountains.

We will meet as a group back at the hotel at 7 p.m. and enjoy a delicious meal with wine pairings.

After a leisurely continental breakfast in the hotel, we will have a discussion with the head winemaker at Cardetta. On your way out of town, take some time to explore historic downtown Walla Walla, voted one of America's Great Main Streets by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
