Treasures of Peru

Treasures of Peru

When:
October 25 - November 4, 2010

Activity Level:  Moderately Active

Tour the Peruvian capital, Lima, before flying to the archaeological hub, Cuzco, to explore the Sacred Valley, Indian markets at Pisac, and the ruins at Ollantaytambo. Travel by train to Machu Picchu—the "Lost City of the Incas" and a UNESCO World Heritage Site—where you’ll enjoy two guided visits of the enigmatic ruins. Cross Peru’s rugged altiplano with its snow-capped mountains to Lake Titicaca, one of the world’s highest navigable lakes. Take a boat ride to the Floating Islands and Taquile Island, known for their locally crafted textiles.

The trip exceeded my expectations. It was well organized down to the last detail. Everything we saw and did was so interesting. We came to a new appreciation and understanding of the history and culture of Peru.
