Q’s Corner: Notes from the International Trustee

Lee, Kyu C Kyu C. Lee (Q), ’00, became the UWAA Board of Trustee’s first international trustee in the summer of 2018. Q’s Corner is where he shares updates and important information with UW alumni around the world.

Greetings international Huskies! In this inaugural edition of my column for Husky Global, I have exciting news about UW events around the world and upcoming opportunities to give back to the University.

First, I hope you have all started to hear about Husky Giving Day. The UW’s first annual giving day will take place on April 4, 2019. One of the things I love about UW is the supportive community of Huskies across the globe. Husky Giving Day will give communities an opportunity to come together and support the people, programs and causes they care about most.

You’ll be hearing more about Husky Giving Day as it approaches, but for those of us who live outside of the United States, it is important to note that the event will run from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. (PST) on April 4 — this means, those of us in Asia will be able to join in starting the afternoon of April 4 through the afternoon of April 5.

To find out more, check the countdown clock and learn about the great causes you can support, visit the Husky Giving Day website. We’d love your support spreading the world about Husky Giving Day to you friends and fellow Dawgs. Be sure to #HuskyGivingDay on your social media platforms. I’m excited that together we can make an impact for Washington and the world.

Speaking of our Husky community, I want to say a special thank you to all of you who updated your address during our recent campaign to gather contact information for our international alumni. More than 4,000 of you responded to our request and helped us to maintain connection with Dawgs worldwide.

One of the ways we like to stay in touch is through special events and there are lots of those on the horizon. This month, Huskies in China will have a chance to experience live, the talented UW Wind Ensemble in Beijing. Coming Summer 2019, we’ll be hosting student send-offs in several countries where newly admitted Huskies and their families will have a chance to connect with alumni. Keep an eye out for more information and mark your calendars. Lastly, UW Converge returns November, 8 2019 in Taipei. Our Taipei Huskies are preparing an event you’d regret missing!

Thank you for being a part of the international Husky family. Your continued support and engagement are foundational to creating a thriving network of UW alumni and friends that reach every corner of the world. It is an honor to represent you on the UWAA Board of Trustees. See you all very soon.
