2009 marks the 100th anniversary of the first UW scholarship awarded to a woman. The recipient was University of Washington junior Carrie Cowgill Thompson who, in 1946, returned the honor by founding the University of Washington Alumnae Board. Although the cost of tuition has risen considerably from Carrie’s $100 scholarship, we continue her legacy now 63 years later. Coffee & Conversation luncheon table

Another Successful Scholarship Luncheon in the Desert
The fourth annual Coffee and Conversation luncheon was held March 16 at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. The fundraising event included a luncheon, silent auction and guest speaker Howard Behar, former Starbucks president. More.

The University of Washington Alumnae Board ranks in the top five at the UW for the total number of scholarships awarded annually from any one organization. Alumnae Board scholarships were the first full-tuition scholarships awarded from the alumni association. More.

UW Foundation Partnership Makes Gift-Giving Easier
Last December, the UW Foundation created an account for donations to the Alumnae Board scholarship fund. Now it's even easier to support the UWAB by making a gift online through the UW Foundation account. More.

Our board members serve a four-year term and each member volunteers time, talent and resources to raise funds for UW student scholarships. More.
