Roberto Maestas

Remembering Roberto Maestas
Roberto Maestas, one of Seattle's earliest social justice organizers and founder of El Centro de la Raza, passed away on Sept, 22 at age 72. Perhaps best known as one of the "Four Amigos," a multiracial alliance of Larry Gossett, Bob Santos and the late Bernie Whitebear, Roberto’s grassroots activism had helped shape Seattle since the 1970s. Learning to Be Illegal: Undocumented Youth and the Confusing and Contradictory Routes to Adulthood

Assistant Professor Roberto Gonzales will talk about what happens to the children of undocumented immigrants who, upon turning 18, suddenly lose their services and protections. Admission is free but RSVP is requested.
