Graduate and Professional Education Week

With 25 events over three days, Graduate & Professional Education Week, as proclaimed by Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire, celebrated the University of Washington's shining stars - its graduate and professional students - with notable lectures, stimulating discussion forums, research exhibits and major events.  Partners like the Graduate & Professional Student Senate, the UW Alumni Association, Center for Career Services and the Center for Instructional Development all participated to create a broad-reaching, informative week of events.

The week's events directly impacted nearly 2,000 individuals and raised awareness of the importance of graduate and professional students at the UW. The week also honored some of our most important donors to graduate education like the ARCS Foundation and individuals who have provided critical support to student funding.

Events included continuing education opportunities, forums for discussion on a variety of political, social and interest-based issues, networking receptions, as well as lectures given by Gloria Steinem and Catharine R. Stimpson, Professor and Dean, The Graduate School of Art & Sciences, NYU.

Without graduate and professional students, the University of Washington could not fulfill its valuable educational or economic role within the state of Washington and internationally, employing 30,000 employees and generating $56.1 billion in economic activity each year.

We continue to celebrate these remarkable individuals everyday – and will feature Graduate & Professional Education Week next year during the last week of February.  Thank you to all of our Graduate & Professional Students.
