Out and About in Husky Nation: Fall 2017

Warm-ups stoke Husky Spirit around the country

Washington Warm-ups Presented by Alaska Airlines give UW fans headed to away games a place to gather and rev up their Purple Pride before kickoff. This year, there were Warm-ups at Colorado and Stanford. Hundreds of Huskies came together at both events for food, drinks, entertainment and — of course — tons of Husky spirit.

New York Huskies cheer their way onto ESPN

When the Huskies beat Colorado 37-10 in September, it wasn’t just the players on the field who attracted media attention. Husky fans in New York made an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay, cheering on the Dawgs from Feile, the home of the New York Huskies viewing party. This weekly get-together regularly draws big crowds.

SoCal Huskies are off and running

In October, a pack of SoCal Huskies led by Debbie Brand, ’88, banded together to give back and get some exercise. They joined the LA Cancer Challenge fun run/walk in support of the Hirshberg Foundation. A team of eight ran together under the name “Don James Gang” in memory of the beloved UW football coach who passed away from pancreatic cancer.

SoCal Viewing Parties Show Their Purple Pride

Husky football viewing parties across the nation are full of enthusiastic UW fans, and the Southern California viewing parties are no exception. From hosting gatherings that last into the late hours of the evening to organizing raffles that benefit the local scholarship fund, our volunteer Husky hosts make these events possible. Ray Price, Christy Austin, Dan Leong, Simeon Moses, Deb Crump, Sam Kim, Matt Hiler, and Jessica Handy, thank you for your tireless efforts in making the 2017 football season one to remember.

Dawgs on Wall Street

You can find Husky alumni leaders in every industry, in every country. Our speaker series, Dawgs on Wall Street, recently featured Foster grad Annie Young-Scrivner, ’91, CEO of Godiva. NY Huskies gathered at the Lotos Club for the opportunity to hear how Annie is making an impact across the globe.
