Get Your UW NetID
A UW NetID (with password) is your personal lifelong identification for using UW and UWAA online resources. Faculty, staff and students of UW already have one; most alumni and UWAA members can get one. (See FAQ for UW NetID eligibility notes.)
- You get:
- A variety of e-mail and computing services
- Access to Husky Career Network networking database (you must be a UWAA member or a current student to search the Network)
- Access to the online alumni directory (you must be a UWAA member to search the online directory)
- Personalized access to MyUW
- Online access to unofficial and official transcripts

To protect your privacy, you'll be asked to verify your eligibility for alumni services. You'll need:
Think of alternatives
Many of the most common UW NetID possibilities have already been assigned to faculty, staff and students. Think of several alternative possibilities that are no more than 8 characters long.
Think security
UW requires passwords to be between 8 and 14 characters in length (more on password requirements). To help you when you forget your password, you'll be asked to choose secret password questions and answers.
Your last name
If you have changed your last name, our records may not have been updated. You may have to try a different last name, such as the name you were known by when you were a student.
Student ID number / SSN
Depending on what information we have in our records, you will be asked for either your UW student ID number and date of birth, or the last six digits of your social security number. If you don't remember your student ID number, you must contact the UW Registrar's Office, 206-543-8580 or 225 Schmitz Hall on UW Seattle campus, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. See the online services FAQ for notes about UW NetID eligibility and SSNs.
