UWAB Student Scholarships

The UW Alumnae Board was the first organization from the UWAA to award one-year, full-tuition scholarships to UW students. Today, the UWAB awards up to 10 scholarships per year to UW men and women, freshman through senior year.

Recipients are selected on the basis of financial need, scholastic achievement, leadership, community service, and a demonstrated strong work ethic.

UWAB Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to the 2009-2010 scholarship recipients. In June, the UWAB awarded scholarships to 14 promising students at the 62nd annual Rhododendron Tea. Held at the lakeside home of UW President Mark Emmert and his wife, DeLaine, this extraordinary event highlighted a year's worth of fund-raising by many dedicated UWAB volunteers.

Application and Instructions

The 2011-12 UWAB scholarship application process is now closed. Finalists will be notified by May 17, 2011. If you have not received a notification by this date, we encourage you to apply again next year. Applications for the 2012-13 scholarships will be posted in November 2011.

Resident of Washington state at time of application
Has never before received a UWAB scholarship
Undergraduate (any year), including transfer students, whom have not yet obtained a Bachelor's degree
Will be or is attending UW Seattle campus
Those entering as freshmen from Running Start programs should have a GPA of 3.5 and above
Sophomores, juniors and seniors should have a GPA of 3.0 and above
Combined SAT scores over 1,600 or ACT scores over 22
Parents' or guardians' 2010 adjusted gross income below $95,000
All applicants must apply for 2011-2012 FAFSA

One-page personal letter
Two current letters of recommendation
A copy of the UW Seattle campus confirmation letter (freshmen and transfer students only)
Cumulative high school and/or college transcript through December of the previous year
SAT or ACT verification (freshmen and Running Start students only)
FAFSA submission verification
