This past football season was one of the most enjoyable years I have experienced as director of the Husky Marching Band. Although enormously disappointed that our seniors concluded their years in the band without a postseason bowl trip, I was continually amazed all season long by the band’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the fans. Honoring 1961
In 2007, the University of Washington bestowed an overdue honor on the 1960 Huskies football team – that of national champion. The UW decided last April to honor the 1960 team as national champions because it went 10-1 in the regular season and then defeated No. 1 and undefeated Minnesota 17-7 in the 1961 Rose Bowl.

Interview with Lou Gellerman
Lou Gellerman, longtime press box announcer for Husky football games, retired unexpectedly this past season following the September 15 Ohio State game. Unbeknownst to many band alums is that Lou also spent a couple of years as the official announcer for the Husky Band. We recently sat down with Lou to gain a little more insight into his past with the band and Husky athletics.

McDavid selected as director of Olympic Marching Band
Husky Band Director Brad McDavid was selected to serve as one of three artistic directors on an international staff that will coordinate the performances for the official marching band of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Toast to the Northwest 2008!
Save the date -- The Husky Band is proud to bring you the 3rd Annual Toast to the Northwest, May 10 from 3-7 p.m at the Dempsey Indoor Facility on the UW campus. This year’s event will feature up to 75 wineries, including some of the greatest from years past including: Samson Estate Winery, Saint Laurent Winery, Nicholas Cole Cellars, and Sleep Dog Wines (and yes, Larry has promised to bring Aurora again).
