Please join the College of Built Environments and the UW Alumni Association for the 2009-10 BE Lecture Series focusing on emerging issues in research and practice, especially those that address urbanization and sustainability.

Martin Felsen, one of the founding principals of UrbanLab, will explore the value of infrastructure as a robust design opportunity to strengthen communities and revitalize cities.

Sustaining Beauty

Speaker: Elizabeth K. Meyer, Associate Professor, Department of Landscape Architecture, University of Virginia

For our culture to be sustainable, designed landscapes must provoke those who experience them to become more aware of the environment and to care enough to make changes. Professor Meyer will examine the role of beauty and aesthetics in a sustainability agenda.
