Name, Degree, Class Year

Edit your preferred class year via Home/My Profile

Use the "find people" box for inclusive searching

Use "Advanced Search" for precise searching

My class year is listed with the incorrect degree next to my name.
Currently only one degree can be listed next to your name (space restraints). HuskyConnect defaults to your first degree as a way to identify your "social" group (since most people will identify you with your undergraduate days).

The year listed, if the user has multiple degrees, is the year coded to your "preferred" graduation year.

To change your preferred graduation year, go to your profile page (Home/My Profile), click the "Edit" link in the "My Career" box and change the year to match the degree listed next to your name.

What happens when I search by name on the "Advanced Search" page?
If you search by name on the "Advanced Search" page, your search will run exactly as you type it. So, if you search for first name="John", you will see everyone who has exactly the first name of John. You will not see anyone with the nickname of John or a first name of, for example, Johnella, Johnny, etc.

So, the searching rule of thumb is: use the "Find People" box when you want to do an inclusive search; use the "Advanced Search" page when you want to do a precise search.

What happens when I search by degree (or any other parameter) on the "Advanced Search" page?
Just as with name searching, any other searching you do from the "Advanced Search" page will be precise. At this time, searching on year, degree or major from the Advanced Search page will search only on the latest UW degree held by each individual in the database. To search from amongst all the degrees that multiple degree holders may have, use the "Find People" box.
