46th Annual NY Salmon BBQ

Sun. June 23, 2019

Summer is always an exciting time for Husky communities on the East Coast. This year storied traditions and new opportunities came together at events in New York and D.C.

The New York Huskies hosted their 46th Annual Salmon BBQ at the home of Susan Bevan, ’76, and Tony Daddino in Greenwich, CT. The event featured All-American running back Greg Lewis, ’91, who helped lead the Huskies to a Pac-10 Conference title and a 1991 Rose Bowl victory, and currently co-hosts the Husky Football pregame show on KOMO AM Radio 1000. Greg talked about his time as a student athlete, the team’s road to a 1991 Rose Bowl Victory, how the UW prepared him for success in life beyond football and the current climate of UW Athletics.

In D.C., local Dawgs were treated to a brand new venue for their summer bash. More than 120 headed to Red Bear Brewing Company, one of the District’s newest breweries. Owned and operated by Seattleites including Cameron Raspet, ’15, the brewery proved to be the perfect place to celebrate purple pride. The event also featured Greg Lewis and raised more than $800 for the UWAA DC Dawg Scholarship fund which supports students at the UW from DC, Maryland or Virginia. Attendees at the event even got to meet Matilda Li, this years scholarship recipient.
