2006 Homecoming - Alumni & Community Events

Homecoming is the time to celebrate the purple and gold at the University of Washington. From the 21st Annual Dawg Dash (and the Post Dash Bash) to the traditional Homecoming Rally in “Red Square” to the Homecoming game itself, we have a week packed with activities with something for everyone.

Some of the events listed below require pre-registration and/or have a participation fee. Please follow the links for each listing to find out complete information.

2006 Featured Events

21st Annual Dawg Dash
It's been 21 years, and our Dawgs aren't tired yet! The celebrated 10k run and 5k run/walk through the scenic UW campus continues to attract more than 2,000 participants a year. Don't forget the Post-Dash Bash in Husky Stadium, with food, fun and a Husky Pups Run for kids.
When: Sunday, October 22, 9:30 a.m.
Location: Begins and ends at Husky Stadium.

UWAA Homecoming Kickoff
Get ready for the getting-ready at the second annual Homecoming Kickoff, a pre-rally rally for friends of the UWAA (i.e. everybody). Have a glass of wine and some hors d'oeuvres, talk football with your fellow Huskies, and then head out to Red Square for the Homecoming Rally!
When: Friday, October 27, 6 p.m.

Homecoming Rally
Here's where the true meaning of Homecoming will come home, as you watch Husky fans from all over the world converge on Red Square and paint it purple (figuratively, of course). Emceed by KJR-AM radio personality Dave "Softy" Mahler, this year's rally will feature food and fun giveaways, the announcement of the Homecoming Court, the introduction of the Dawg Dash winners, performances by the Husky Marching Band and Cheer Squad, and a pep talk from Coach Tyrone Willingham.
When: Friday, October 27, 8 p.m. (rain or shine)

Jackson School Alumni Homecoming Event
The JSIS Alumni invite you to reconnect with former classmates at our homecoming event. The evening will begin with a meet and greet, followed by exceptional speakers who will share their experiences from traveling abroad. This will be a great opportunity for alumni to gain an insider's perspective, as speakers share their exploits in navigating through conflicted societies.

Slavic Homecoming, featuring Bulgaria
Join us as we celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of Bulgaria. Each year the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures' Alumni Club holds a homecoming event, bringing University of Washington alumni back to campus to share in a celebration of Slavic cultures and communities. We hope you join us for this memorable evening! It is our tradition to highlight a different region each year. This year we celebrate the people and cultures of Bulgaria.

UW Bothell Computing and Software Systems 10th Anniversary Celebration

UW Student Dawg Sleds
Witness everyday Costco floats transformed into vehicles of Husky Pride. Preview and judging of student-made Dawg Sleds takes place on Red Square before the Rally from 3-5 p.m., with winners announced at the 8 p.m. Rally.

Husky Fever Hall of Fame 2006 Induction Ceremony and Dinner
Come celebrate the Proud Heritage of Husky athletics by attending our bi-annual Husky Fever Hall of Fame induction ceremony and dinner. This year’s class includes legendary coaches Jim Lambright from the Football program and National Champion women’s Crew coach Jan Harville. All American athletes Greg Lewis (football) Jody Braden (swimming) Aretha (Hill) Thurmond (track and field) and one of the best Husky hoopsters of the past few decades Todd MacCulloch. Tickets are only $55.00.

Homecoming Game: Huskies vs. Arizona State
Come see the Huskies take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in Washington's 80th Homecoming game. The UWAA will award the Homecoming Royalty with $1000 scholarships between 1st and 2nd quarters. Tickets available at www.gohuskies.com.

Purple and Gold Society Luncheon featuring Bonnie Dunbar
The Purple & Gold Society is a University of Washington Alumni Association club for alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more. If your class has celebrated its 50-year reunion or is going to this fall, please join us for our luncheon featuring a talk by Dr. Bonnie J. Dunbar, '71, '75, retired NASA astronaut and president and CEO of the Museum of Flight.
