About Native Gardens: In this brilliant new comedy, cultures and gardens clash, turning well-intentioned neighbors into feuding enemies. Pablo (played by UW MFA student Phillip Ray Guevara), a rising attorney, and doctoral candidate Tania, his very pregnant wife, have just purchased a home next to Frank and Virginia, a well-established D.C. couple with a prize-worthy English garden. But an impending barbecue for Pablo’s colleagues and a delicate disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out border dispute, exposing both couples’ notions of race, taste, class and privilege.

Along with being a smart, fresh play that has drawn positive reviews across the country, the Seattle production of Native Gardens reflects the work of at least five Huskies, including one of the lead actors:

Phillip Guevara, MFA ‘19, Actor – Pablo
Jennifer Zeyl, MFA ‘03, Artistic Director
Lex Marcos, MFA ‘17, Set Designer
Robert Aguilar, ‘05, Lighting Designer
Matthew Starritt, ‘04, Sound Designer
