PRIDE IN 5 Here’s a chance to showcase your Husky Pride—a very brief snippet of it, anyway. Take a tiny bite out of your 15 minutes of fame by entering the UWAA’s “Pride in 5” competition. Submit a 5-second video showing us your true colors (provided they’re purple and gold) between Sept. 19 and Oct. 19. Prizes will be awarded, and the winning entry will be announced at the Homecoming Rally. Go to Uwalum.com for details.
UW STUDENT DAWG SLEDS, 3 p.m., Oct. 26, Red Square You’ve heard of dogs pulling people on sleds, but how about people on sleds pulling for Dawgs? Every year, At homecoming 2007 students will transform ordinary Costco carts into moving (literally) tributes to Husky spirit. The winning sleds gets will be displayed at the Homecoming Rally, with prizes awarded to the best ones.
HOMECOMING RALLY, 8 p.m., Oct. 26, Red Square Here’s where the Homecoming spirit reaches a fever pitch. Every year, on the night before the Homecoming football game, hundreds of Huskies converge on Red Square for a pep talk from Coach Willingham, a performance by the Husky Marching Band, food, fun giveaways, rowdiness, camaraderie and good cheer (from the Cheer Squad, specifically, but also in general). Emceed by a local celebrity, the 2007 rally will also feature the announcement of the Homecoming student royalty and the Dawg Sled competition winners. Be on the Square or be square.MAP BREAKFAST, 8 a.m., Oct. 27, HUB Ballroom Another longtime Homecoming tradition, the Multicultural Alumni Partnership Bridging the Gap Breakfast honors past and present Distinguished Alumni Award and scholarship winners.
HOMECOMING GAME, noon, Oct. 27, Husky Stadium When a Dawg meets a Cat, the smart money is always on the Dawg. Watch your Huskies take on the Arizona Wildcats in this battle for Pac-10 bragging rights.
