Whether you come by plane, boat, car, foot or Dawgsled, Homecoming Week 2006 will be worth your journey. Bookended by the 21st annual Dawg Dash (and the Post-Dash Bash) and the traditional Rally in Red Square (and the pre-Rally rally) the week of Oct. 22–29 is going to be packed with activities. Here are some highlights:

It’s been 21 years, and our Dawgs ain’t tired yet. The celebrated 10K run and 5K run/walk through the scenic UW campus continues to attract more than 2,000 participants a year. Don’t forget the Post-Dash Bash in Husky Stadium, with food, fun and a Husky Pups Run for kids.

Homecoming Kickoff, 6 p.m., Oct. 27, Mary Gates Hall

Get ready for the getting-ready at the second annual Homecoming Kickoff, a pre-rally rally for friends of the UWAA (i.e. everybody). Have a glass of wine and some hors d’oeuvres, talk football with your fellow Huskies, and then head out to Red Square for…

Homecoming Rally, 8 p.m., Oct. 27, Red Square

Here’s where the true meaning of Homecoming will come home, as you watch Husky fans from all over the world converge on Red Square and paint it purple (figuratively, of course). Emceed by DJs from KJR-AM, this year’s rally will feature food and fun giveaways, the announcement of the Homecoming Court, the introduction of the Dawg Dash winners, performances by the Husky Marching Band and the Cheer Squad, and a pep talk from Coach Tyrone Willingham.
