Reunions at a Glance
Fifty years ago, the Korean War was under way. Jack Benny, Red Skelton and Milton Berle ruled television. The Huskies men's basketball team was a national power. The UW campus experienced a building boom unparalleled in campus history.
The year 1961 was likewise a busy year. The Husky football team won its second consecutive Rose Bowl. President John F. Kennedy visited campus to attend the University's Centennial celebration. Martin Luther King Jr. also came to speak at the UW in his only Seattle appearance.
"It was a very happy time for me," recalls Julie Emery, '51. "A lot was going on, but I have a lot of good memories."
Students from the classes of 1951 and 1961 are invited to relive those memories and renew acquaintances during Homecoming Week. The Class of 1951 is holding its 50th reunion, while the Class of '61 will hold its 40th. Here's a quick overview:
Class of 1951 Reunion Brunch
Purple and Gold Society Luncheon
Open to all reunion classes plus alumni who have graduated before 1952
