All’s quiet in the Western states—except for those two days every March when Washington invades California. Dawg Days in the Desert, the UWAA’s annual celebration of sun, fun and Husky camaraderie, is coming March 12–13 to the Palm Springs area. A remarkable lineup of UW luminaries will be on hand for the 15th Desert Dawgs Golf Tournament, the 3rd Coffee and Conversation benefit for UWAA Alumnae Board Scholarships, and the 18th Chow Down to Washington dinner. Here’s a preview of each event:
Desert Dawgs Golf Tournament, 8 a.m. Monday, March 12, Desert Willow Golf Resort, Palm Desert, Calif. This is a scramble-format Husky golf tournament for UW alumni and friends, as well as members of the athletics staff, former football coaches and former players. A barbecue lunch will follow.
Coffee and Conversation, 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, Thunderbird Country Club, Rancho Mirage, Calif. Hosted by UW Desert Scholarship Patrons, this luncheon will feature boutique shopping and a special appearance by astronaut Bonnie J. Dunbar, ’71, ’75. All proceeds will benefit UW Alumnae Board Scholarships.
Chow Down to Washington, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, Rancho Mirage, Calif. Come eat, drink and enjoy the company of your fellow Huskies. The dinner program will include addresses by UW President Mark A. Emmert, ’75; Bill Gates Sr., ’49, ’50; Tyrone Willingham and new UWAA Executive Director Chuck Blumenfeld, ’66, ’69. Celebrity-alums Richard Karn, ’79, and Robb Weller , ’72, will serve as co-emcees.
Space for all of these events is limited. Visit <UWalum.com> or call 1-800-AUW-ALUM to register. |
