Let’s Toast Again Like We Did Last Spring |
|
Dawg Days Are Here Again The Husky Marching Band is famous for its “Tequila,” but after last year’s Toast to the Northwest, the musicians may want to consider adding “Red Red Wine” to their repertoire. The first annual wine festival drew more than 1,000 guests, and raised $5,000 for the Husky Band Foundation. This year’s edition, scheduled for Saturday, May 12, in the climate-controlled Dempsey Indoor Practice Facility near Husky Stadium, promises to be even bigger, with 70-plus wineries from all over the world on hand to share their exceptional vintages. Each will be offering tastes of at least two labels, and roving QFC wine professionals will answer questions and offer suggestions. The featured winery, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, plans to pour some of its higher-end and smaller-batch wines. Washington, Oregon and Idaho winemakers will be spotlighted in a special section. Other attractions include a bistro area offering light fare and wines by the glass, a wine raffle and live jazz (members of the Husky Marching Band will be too busy serving as the event’s staff). UWAA members can attend at a special discounted rate of $50 (versus $60 for non-members). All proceeds will benefit the marching band.
