Raise a glass for the brass. Tip a flute for the flutes. On May 13, you can give a big boost to the Husky Marching Band Foundation simply by coming to the UW and tasting some of the area’s most exquisite wines. At Toast to the Northwest, a new regional wine festival held in the climate-controlled Dempsey Indoor Practice Facility near Husky Stadium, dozens of distinguished winemakers from Washington, Oregon and Idaho will be on hand to offer samples from their cellars. TV personality Richard Karn, ’79, of Home Improvement and Family Feud fame, will serve as emcee and celebrity chairman, presenting door prizes and announcing the winners of the Consumer’s Choice Awards—for the wines voted best in their categories by the festival’s attendees. All proceeds from the event will directly support the student musicians of the Husky Marching Band, who will give two special performances during the afternoon.
