Alumni E-News Keeps Timely Connection to UW

University of Washington alumni have a new way to stay connected to their alma mater. Starting this month, the UW and the UW Alumni Association will offer a free, monthly electronic-mail newsletter covering news and events at the UW.

The newsletter will be a more timely version of Columns, featuring the same award-winning mix of campus news and features, plus links to fascinating (and unusual) UW-related Web sites. Special features include a monthly UW trivia contest with prizes for the winners, and reader forums on campus issues.

Subscribers can choose to receive the newsletter in either a plain text version or a graphic version based on the language found on the World Wide Web.

The premiere issue will be sent in early April to the approximately 30,000 alumni who have recorded their e-mail addresses with the UW. If alumni wish to continue receiving the newsletter, they need to "opt-in" by filling out a subscription request at

Alumni who haven't given the UW their e-mail address-or who have recently changed e-mail accounts-can view the e-newsletter from links at and subscribe at that time.
