Only Yesterday: Classes Celebrate 40th, 50th Reunions This Fall

1950s Senior Reception at the Columns

The senior reception at the Columns was a campus tradition during the 1950s. Students from this era will return to campus this fall for their 40th and 50th year reunions. Photo by Robert Petersen.

Autumn means great weather, school's back in session, Husky football's back in business—and class reunion time.

As Columns went to press in late May, three reunions were set:

The Class of 1950 School of Architecture's 50-year reunion on Friday, Aug. 25 at the Seattle Yacht Club. Dinner and no-host bar open at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Cork Berry at (206) 381-0933 or Gudmund Berge at (206) 232-0071.

The University's 50-year class reunion for the Class of 1950 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Kane Hall after the UW-California Homecoming football game. The University has valid addresses for more than 1,300 alumni in this class year and organizers are hoping for a good turnout. For more information or to help organize your reunion, call Cathy Deckard at the UW Alumni Association at 1-800-AUW-ALUM.

A 40-year class reunion for the Class of 1960 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Burke Museum. The UW has about 1,800 valid addresses for the Class of 1960; many still live in the Puget Sound area. Doors open about 6 p.m. and festivities are expected to go until 9 p.m. The museum exhibits will be on view during this event. For information on this reunion, call Anne Novotney at the UWAA at 1-800-AUW-ALUM.
