Cost:FREE, but advance registration is required.

October 6 - Principles and Practices of Powerful Communication
Lecturer: Dr. G. Kent Nelson, '89, '94, Milgard School of Business
At the heart of a meaningful and productive life is the ability to establish constructive relationships with other people. In this presentation, Dr. Kent Nelson will describe vital principles of interpersonal dynamics and how they can be translated into powerful practice. This will be an engaging talk with ideas you can use immediately!

October 13 - The Environment and Your Health
Lecturer: Dr. Janet Primomo, '82, '89, Nursing
Dr. Primomo will discuss threats to human health posed by selected physical, chemical, biological, social and psychosocial factors in the environment. Key concepts regarding environmental health including environmental justice, vulnerable populations, and interventions to protect public and individual health will be described. Local efforts to address the growing asthma epidemic in our community will be covered.

November 3 - Media Coverage and the Olympics
Lecturer: Dr. William Kunz, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences
NBC has dubbed the extended cable coverage of this year's Summer Olympics as the "Grand Experiment." Dr. Bill Kunz has been right in the heart of it working with one of UWT's students in Athens. Dr. Kunz will offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at how the Olympics media coverage comes together.

Directions and Parking

The lectures take place at Carwein Auditorium on the first floor of the Keystone Building. View the UW Tacoma campus map. The UW Tacoma campus is located across the street from the Washington State History Museum and Union Station. To reach campus, from I-5 take the I-705/Tacoma City Center exit (exit 133). From I-705 take the South 21st Street exit. Turn left at the traffic light onto 21st Street. Go through the light at Pacific Avenue, and the campus is on the right. Turn right on C Street to enter the Cragle parking lot which has a $3 parking fee. There is limited free street parking throughout the area.

Note: Parking for visitors with disabled parking permits is available in the Cragle parking lot.
