Slavic Fest Celebration

Join us for the first-ever University of Washington Slavic Fest, a special weekend celebrating local Slavic communities with music and dancing, classes, and traditional food and drink. The celebration begins on Saturday afternoon with special classes at the Polish House. Then join us for the Cyril & Methodius Party that evening. Sunday will feature a free parade and concert on the UW campus.

    When: Saturday & Sunday, May 15 & 16
    Where: Saturday - The Polish Home, 1714 18th Ave, Seattle.
         Sunday - UW Seattle campus
    Price: Saturday afternoon classes - $5 ($7 if attending piroshki class).
    Saturday evening party - $15 for UWAA members, $18 for general, $5 students, $25 sponsors, FREE for children under 10. Prices are higher at the door.
    Sunday parade and concert - FREE
    Online registration is now closed. Walk-up registration will be available at all the events.

Slavic Classes
Saturday, May 15, 1 - 5 p.m., The Polish Home
Our weekend celebration begins with a full afternoon of concurrent classes in Slavic dance, crafts and cooking taught by local treasures. Learn how to make Russian piroshki, traditional crafts for children or bring your scissors and learn Polish paper cutting. Learn dancing from different Slavic cultures including Bosnian, Croatian and Bulgarian.

Cyril & Methodius Party
Saturday, May 15, 6:30 p.m. - midnight, The Polish Home
Saturday evening we celebrate at the annual concert and dance with live entertainment by Balkan Cabaret with Mary Sherhart and guests, food, drink and fun. Traditional foods will be available for purchase through the Polish Home's Ladies Auxiliary. Beverages will also be available including beer, wine and Slivovic.

Slavic Fest Parade and Concert
Sunday, May 16, gather at Drumheller Fountain at 2:30 p.m.; parade begins at 3 p.m.; concert at Kane Hall begins at 4 p.m.
Starting at Drumheller Fountain, we will celebrate the rich diversity of local Slavic cultures with a community folklore parade in Red Square followed by a free 90-minute concert of local Slavic children's performances in Kane Hall. All are welcome to participate in the parade and encouraged to wear a traditional Slavic costume.

For a limited time order your Cyril and Methodius t-shirt at a savings! Shirts are available in gray and white, sizes L and XL. By ordering on the web page you get the t-shirt for $10, a savings of $5. Online t-shirt ordering is now closed, some will be available at the Slavic Fest.
