Husky Summer Weekend '04 - San Diego

Just think of it: Huskies all over the country gathering on the same weekend to celebrate Husky Pride. Husky Summer Weekend '04 is a weekend filled with fun Husky activities in neighborhoods across the world.

All San Diego Husky alumni and friends are invited to the Second Annual Husky Day at Del Mar Race Track, in Del Mar, Calif.

    Where: Del Mar Race Track, 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del Mar
    When: Saturday, Aug. 14, 1 p.m. start
    What: On the same weekend, Husky clubs and chapters around the nation will paint our country red, white, purple and gold. Our Husky Summer Weekend event will take place at the Del Mar Race Track, where you can bet on the horses with your fellow Huskies. Kids can't bet on the horses, but their hunches are welcome!
    Cost: $10 admission includes admission, a racing program, and shaded theater-style seating. Bring your own food or purchase it at the track. To register, please mail a check made out to "UWAA San Diego" to Rajy Abulhosn, 10912 Sunny Mesa Road, San Diego, CA 92121. PLEASE e-mail Rajy at sdhuskies@yahoo.com to let him know how many of you, your kids, and your friends will attend. If you want to sit with the Huskies, tickets must be purchased in advance through Rajy.

What to expect:
Join fellow Huskies for the second annual Dawg Day at the Races. Friends, family, and even non-Huskies are welcome to attend. Food is available for purchase, but you can also bring your own. Don't forget $$ for the races! Rajy says it's going to be "fun and social" so don't miss it.

Listen to reggae music icon Jimmy Cliff as he headlines the Infield Reggae and Beer Festival. Local favorite, Common Sense, will play during the races while Jimmy Cliff comes on stage after the completion of the races around 6 p.m. Also during the races, taste free chili samples from cooks in the Western Regional Chili Cook-off and Salsa Contest.

Directions:
Del Mar is located just west of I-5 at the Via de la Valle exit, 20 miles north of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles. Exit Via de la Valle and head west to the race track. For more information visit www.dmtc.com.
