About the Circus
American entertainers and Big Apple Circus co-founders Paul Binder and Michael Christensen, '70, started as jugglers on the street corners of Europe. Their comedic juggling act was a hit, and they soon found themselves on the stage of the presitigous Nouveau Cirque de Paris. They returned home to America and founded the not-for-profit Big Apple Circus in 1977. Over the past twenty-seven years, the Circus has grown from the artistic vision of the founders to be one of the world's premier circuses with performances delighting audiences in New York and around the East and South during tours.
