Kendra Gossel
Kendra is currently completing her sophomore year at the UW with a GPA of 3.85. She enjoys the combination of history, economics, politics and geography that the Jackson School’s International Studies program has to offer. Kendra says that the best thing about being a UW student is the collective opportunities the campus has to offer such as its libraries, speakers and classes. Kendra would like to do an exchange program in Eastern Europe or the Baltic States. But before she goes abroad, she will be heading to Malibu, B.C., with high-school students this summer as a volunteer leader with Young Life, a non-profit organization committed to making an impact on kids' lives and preparing them for the future. Kendra is a graduate of Port Townsend High School (Class of 2002).
Cassandra Millet
Cassandra is currently completing her senior year at the UW and is majoring in psychology. Cassandra says that being at the UW has helped her gain learning experiences outside the classroom. She works as an intern counselor at John Marshall Alternative High School, where she has been able to acquire knowledge of the field and see positive changes in her students. She is also involved in a research study that focuses on child and parent interaction. Between her internship and research, she maintains a GPA of 3.82. In her free time, Cassandra enjoys playing the trumpet and learning how to play other instruments, such as bass guitar and the drums. Cassandra is a graduate of Sequim High School (Class of 2001).
Cindy Chen
Cindy is currently completing her junior year at the UW and is majoring in psychology. She is interested in the research aspect of her major and is working on a study on addictive behaviors. She says that the best thing about the UW has been the leadership experience she has gained through various extracurricular activities, one of which was as co-president of Circle K, a volunteer club sponsored by Kiwanis. Cindy, a service-minded person, will continue doing what she can to improve the lives of people around her. Along with her commitment to service, she maintains a GPA of 3.84. When she is not volunteering in the community, she can be found with her friends playing tennis and shooting pool. Cindy is a graduate of South Kitsap High School (Class of 2002).
Samuel Kidder
Sam is currently completing his junior year at the UW and is majoring in business administration, with a concentration in finance. A transfer student from Duke University, Sam says the UW has given him so much: the opportunity to work with brilliant students and faculty, a new found academic passion in finance, and the prospect of a summer internship at Smith Barney. Paying his own way through college, Sam works anywhere from 18 to 25 hours a week as a teacher of SAT prep classes for Mazor Test Prep Company. Even with the long work hours he maintains a GPA of 3.87. When he’s not hitting the books or working, he enjoys playing basketball, reading and traveling. Sam is a graduate of Bainbridge High School (Class of 2002).
