Event: National Fiscal Wake-up Call with David Walker, Comptroller General

 Date: Wednesday, November 29, 2006
 Time: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Location: 225 Kane Hall:  Walker-Ames Room

The Fiscal Wake-Up Seminar focuses attention on our nation’s long-term fiscal challenges.  Speakers will include David Walker, Comptroller General of the United States and representatives from the Brookings Institution and Heritage Foundation, co-presented by the Evans School and the Concord Coalition.  The seminar will include UW scholars, elected officials and leaders from around the Puget Sound Region and will explore the context for today’s fiscal policy debates: changing demographics; inadequate national savings; intractable health care costs; the crowding out of discretionary spending on everything from defense to education; and the unsustainable growth of our deficits and debt.
