Panel on the Nonprofit Sector: Washington State Field Hearing
Thursday, May 19
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Seattle Public Library Auditorium
1000 Fourth Ave, Seattle (between Spring & Madison Streets)
You are invited to a special briefing and dialogue session on recommendations to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee affecting nonprofits and foundations. The National Panel on the Nonprofit Sector is an independent effort by charities and foundations to ensure that the nonprofit community remains a vibrant and healthy part of American society. Formed by the Washington, D.C.-based Independent Sector at the encouragement of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, the Panel is preparing recommendations for Congress to improve the oversight and governance of charitable organizations.
This special meeting will include a briefing on the Panel's recommendations to date-as communicated in its Interim Report, released on March 1, 2005-and discussion on the issues for the Panel's Final Report. The comments shared by Washington's nonprofit and philanthropy leaders at this meeting will be used to inform the content of the Panel's Final Report to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee in June 2005.
We encourage you to invite staff members, board members, and colleagues to join you for this event. You are encouraged to prepare comments, feedback, and questions based on the Panel's Interim Report. For more information and to download the Report, please see: www.nonprofitpanel.org.
