About Bonnie Dunbar
Bonnie Dunbar grew up on a farm in the Yakima Valley before studying ceramic engineering at the University of Washington. Her work in this field led to her involvement in the space shuttle project. She became one of the first woman astronauts and has now logged more hours in space than any other woman. She flew on the first space shuttle mission to dock with the Russian Space Station Mir. Recently she was named the UW's Alumna of the Year. To learn more about Ms. Dunbar's story, read the Columns Magazine article "Sunnyside Up" from the June 2004 issue.
