Becoming a Proud Husky
Geographic regions, academic units or special interest groups not served by an officially chartered club or chapter may have an Alumni Association presence through the Proud Husky program. This program is designed for constituencies that do not have a sufficient number of alumni or adequate volunteer base to sustain a viable club or chapter.
The Proud Husky is a communication link to the constituency and is listed on the UWAA Web site. Proud Husky volunteers receive newsletters and other periodic information from the UWAA, as well as alumni rosters for their constituencies, provided they are obtainable. Proud Huskies are encouraged to organize at least one activity per year for alumni in their constituencies, so that those alumni have the opportunity to network and socialize with each other. There is no expectation that the UWAA will financially support the constituency or its activities. Exceptions may be considered, provided there is demonstrated alumni interest and strong UWAA membership.
Steps to becoming a Proud Husky:
- submit letter of interest and commitment to supporting the mission of the UWAA
- receive UWAA volunteer orientation
- agree to fulfill responsibilities listed on Proud Husky volunteer position description
- approval by UWAA staff and executive director
