Relationship Marketing Builds Illusionary Loyalty as Salespeople Capture Customers’ Hearts
The battle to win and keep customers in an increasingly competitive and crowded marketplace has become tougher as more companies and products are available to the free world. In response to these competitive pressures, companies are increasing efforts to build customer loyalty --commonly referred to as relationship marketing -- but have these efforts been a waste of marketing dollars, or money well spent? I moved to South Korea in January 2006 to become a CFO of Ultrasonic Technologies Ltd. (UTL), a joint venture between Siemens, a global powerhouse in electrical engineering and electronics, and Prosonic, a local company. Under my leadership, Siemens acquired the company 100% in June 2006. As of October 2007, UTL merged with Siemens Ltd Seoul, a Siemens country organization in Korea, and a new Division has been created to integrate two Siemens Ultrasound operations in Korea as Siemens Ultrasound Systems Korea (SusKo). I am currently a CFO of the newly established SusKo Division.
