    Alma Balmer: Young Alumni Reception with Dean Jim Jiambalvo
    Wednesday, September 19, 6-8 p.m.
    Attention young Business School alumni! It's time once again for Alma Balmer, a reception for recent undergraduate Business School alumni! New this year, Dean Jim Jiambalvo will give a talk on the state of the School, and the event will be held in a special downtown location - the WaMu Center's spectacular Evergreen Terrace. Located on the 17th floor of the new WaMu Center, it has a wonderful view of the downtown skyline and Elliott Bay. There is plenty of indoor space in case of inclement weather. Register now...

    Husky Marching Band Sneak Preview
    Join the Husky Marching Band on Tuesday, August 21st in the Don James Center and kick off the football season with a rousing celebration. Watch the Husky Football team in a pre-season practice from the comfort of the Don James Center; enjoy remarks from Husky Head Coach Tyrone Willingham and entertainment from the Husky Marching Band and Spirit Squad.

    Cost of admission includes a BBQ dinner and complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks. A silent auction and raffle will be held with all proceeds going to support the Husky Marching Band and the Spirit Squad. Register now...

    Take part in Husky Summer Celebration festivities by joining your fellow Business School alumni for happy hour at McCormick and Schmick's in Bellevue on August 8. Register now...

    Alumni Reception with the Dean in Portland
    October 4, 6-8 p.m.
    Where: Hotel Vintage Plaza, 422 SW Broadway
    The Business School is coming your way! Come mingle with fellow Portland alumni at a private reception featuring a state of the school address by Dean Jim Jiambalvo.     Regional Event: Silicon Valley and San Francisco
    Please join us for a special presentation by Business School Associate Professor of Marketing, Mark Forehand titled "Triggering the Unconscious: Implicit Cognition in Advertising." October 11, 2007 at two locations:

    Business School Alumni BBQ a Success!
    Over 350 Business School alumni gathered for food and fun on June 19th at the Center for Urban Horticulture on the UW Seattle campus. The event was a great kick-off to an entire summer of great husky events. See what is planned for the rest of the summer!

    Huskies Helping Huskies
    Here's a great way to stay connected and make a difference in the lives of other Huskies: volunteer to be a Husky Career Network contact. Husky Career Network is a worldwide network of UW alumni and friends offering information about their field and networking referrals to UW students and UWAA members who are exploring their career options. Get more information and sign up.

    Of course, if you are a UW Alumni Association member you can also take advantage of the Husky Career Network to support your own career development. The network allows you to access more than 2400 UW Business School alumni, and more than 5000 contacts altogether.

    Cothron McMillian, '78
    Cothron McMillian has been tabbed to become principal at Whittier Elementary School. McMillian has an 18-year history as a Seattle Public Schools administrator. Her prior positions include principal at Laurelhurst, Rainier View and High Point elementary schools, and as an assistant middle school principal.

    Christopher Campbell, BA '92
    Shilo Inns, a Portland-based hotel chain with 44 company-owned locations and 200 "Shilo affiliates," has promoted Christopher Campbell to chief executive officer and chief financial officer. Campbell, the company's chief financial officer for the past four years, has more than 25 years experience in the hospitality industry.

    Tong Zhu, BA '96
    The Port of Tacoma has selected Tong Zhu as director of commercial strategy. In this position, she will direct the development of port marketing strategies, lead international offices and staff and manage the business planning staff. Before joining the Port of Tacoma, Zhu was international relations manager for the Port of Seattle. Previously, she worked for the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED) as Country Manager for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Zhu has also been Deputy Executive Director for the World Trade Center Tacoma.
