    The Apprentice and Beyond: Local CEO and Business School alum talks about his post-UW adventures.
    James Sun, founder/CEO of Zoodango.com and a candidate on the current season of The Apprentice, will recount experiences from his extraordinary young life. After emigrating from Korea as a boy, he worked through the UW at his own successful investment business, consulted Fortune 500 companies, traveled the world and started a professional networking site, taking a detour to co-star on Donald Trump's popular reality show/public job interview. Sun will share his philosophy on making - and making the most of - the opportunities that arise around every corner.
    When: Thursday, April 26, 2007, 6 - 7 p.m. with a reception following.
    Where: Kane Hall Room 210, UW Seattle Campus
    Cost: Free, but advance registration is requested.

    "Leaders to Legends" Dean's Breakfast Series
    The series continues on April 4, 2007 with Robert Dotson, President & CEO, T-Mobile USA. A continental breakfast is available at 7:15 a.m. The speakers present from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. and will conclude with a Q&A period. The cost per lecture, including breakfast and parking, is $17/person or $13/UWAA member (if unable to attend a lecture, you may send someone in your place).

    All lectures are held on the University of Washington campus in the Walker-Ames room in Kane Hall. Parking is provided in the Central Plaza Parking Garage at 15th Avenue NE and 41st Street NE. An RSVP is requested. Please call Corinne Goellnitz in the Office of the Dean at 206-221-5749 or goell@u.washington.edu. You may pre-pay or pay at the door by check, credit card, or cash. Dates are subject to change.

    The Business School is Coming Your Way! Please join us for a special presentation on the "Psychological Aspects of Pricing" - Presented by Dan Turner, Senior Lecturer, UW Business School, Department of Marketing & International Business. Appetizers and a hosted bar will be available.
    When: Thursday, March 15, 6-8 p.m.
    Where: The Governor Hotel, 614 SW 11th Avenue, Portland
    Cost: UWAA members and students $15, non-members $20. Door price is $20

    Portland: Game of DAWG with Brandon Roy, March 17
    UW alumni have a unique opportunity for an afternoon of basketball with UW Husky and current Portland Trailblazer Brandon Roy. We'll have lunch and a meet & greet with Brandon Roy. We'll raffle four spots to play a game of D-A-W-G with Brandon Roy (like a game of horse with a special Husky twist)! All proceeds go to support scholarships for underrepresented students at UW.     CEO Lunch Series
    The UW Business School and the Alumni Association invite you to join us for the 17th annual CEO Lunch series. The lunches feature CEO's of local companies in a dynamic program that attracts a wide range of Business School alumni and members of the Puget Sound business community.

    MBA State of the Economy Forum
    Come hear popular economics and finance professors Ed Rice and Karma Hadjimichalakis discuss the current state of the economy. There will be time for audience questions, as well as a networking reception.
    When: Wednesday, March 28th, 6-8 p.m.
    Where: University of Washington Club, UW Seattle campus
    Cost: UWAA Members $15, Non-members $20. Students $15. Space is limited. Reservations are encouraged, as there will be limited seating available on a walk-up basis. Walk up seating is $25.

    The University of Washington Business School recently announced that Leonard Lavin, founder and chairman emeritus of the Alberto-Culver Company, has donated $2 million to establish the Leonard and Bernice Lavin Entrepreneurial Action Program (LEAP). More...

    UW Business School snags second place in nation's 'Rose Bowl' of MBA case competitions
    Four University of Washington master's of business administration students captured second place in the fourth annual Pac-10/Big Ten MBA Case Competition held last weekend at Arizona State University. The team earned high marks for its analysis of the selected case, which examined international growth strategy and financial risk management for Rayovac Corporation. More...

    Going Global with Alumni Events
    The UW Business School hosted its second annual Alumni Event in Seoul, Korea on December 13, 2006. About 80 alumni representing BA, MBA, Global EMBA, and PhD classes attended the event held at the COEX Intercontinental Hotel. See photos from the event and read more...

    2007 IKEA International Case Competition Results
    The 2007 IKEA International Case Competition was a great success. The event, which took place on January 18, was well organized and conducted by the Global Business Center and a student team led by Alex Wingert and Ryan Chen.

    Thank you to our alumni who volunteered their time to serve as judges - Polia Quinn, Ahn Tran and Juntti. Some or all of the finalist teams will be invited to represent the UW Business School in other Case Competitions that are being conducted during the remainder of the year.

    I have gone from retirement at Xerox to now owning my own business as the only authorized Xerox Agency on the Greater Eastside. We are the new channel of distribution offering all Xerox products and services for the Eastside of Lake Washington.

    Seok-heon Kim, EMBA '98
    South Korea's leading e-commerce marketplace announced the appointment to its board of directors, Seok-heon Kim, Managing Partner of Cornerstone Equity Partners. Kim is a managing partner of Cornerstone Equity Partners, a leading Korean private equity firm specializing in buyout and significant control transactions. Kim has over 15 years of experience that has covered private equity, investment banking, corporate finance and corporate operations. Prior to Cornerstone, he held an executive role at Korea Investment & Securities where he led the establishment of Cornerstone, a subsidiary of Korea Investment Holdings which is a listed financial services holding company. He has also served as the head of Korea for CVC Asia Pacific Limited, head of M&A for ABN AMRO Seoul, group leader in Ernst & Young Korea's M&A practice, and at LG Chem., Ltd.

    2006 was a year of great change. I moved back to Salt Lake City in July. Dawn and I had our second child, Troy Lucas Harris, in August. Work is long, hard, and rewarding. We had a banner year with high hopes for 2007. The skiing here is excellent. Cheers!
