    Business Leadership Banquet
    Join us on October 19, 2006 for the Business Leadership Banquet.  This is the UW Business School's premier event celebrating the contributions local business leaders and alumni have made to our community. More...

    "Leaders to Legends" Dean's Breakfast Series Begins
    This lecture series runs October 2006 through April 2007.  The series begins with John Stanton of Trilogy Equity Partners on October 18th followed by Lloyd Frink the President and Co-Founder of Zillow.com on November 8, 2006.

    A continental breakfast is available at 7:15 a.m. The speakers present from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. and will conclude with a Q&A period.

    The cost per lecture, including breakfast and parking, is $17/person or $13/UWAA member (if unable to attend a lecture, you may send someone in your place).

    All lectures are held on the University of Washington campus in the Walker-Ames room in Kane Hall. Parking is provided in the Central Plaza Parking Garage at 15th Avenue NE and 41st Street NE.

    An RSVP is requested. Please call Corinne Goellnitz in the Office of the Dean at 206-221-5749 or goell@u.washington.edu. You may pre-pay or pay at the door by check, credit card, or cash. Dates are subject to change.

    The Business School is Coming Your Way!  Come mingle with fellow Bay Area alumni at a private reception featuring a state of the school address by Dean Jim Jiambalvo.

    Business Husky Networking Night
    Join us on Wednesday, November 8 from 5-7:30 p.m. and share your experience with undergraduate business students who are exploring different careers at Business Husky Networking Night in the Douglas Forum, Bank of America Executive Education Center on UW Seattle Campus.

    This event is an informal networking reception that provides undergraduate business students an opportunity to learn about careers first-hand by talking to alumni. 

    There will be a special reception for alumni at 5:00 before students arrive for networking at 6:00.

    UW's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Named #5 in the Nation
    The University of Washington's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship graduate program has been ranked the fifth best in the country according to Entrepreneur magazine. The results of the survey, along with the analysis, appear in the October issue of the monthly magazine, which hit newsstands September 26.  More...

    Huskies Helping Huskies
    Here's a great way to stay connected and make a difference in the lives of other Huskies: volunteer to be a Husky Career Connections Network contact.

    This is a worldwide network of UW alumni and friends offering information about their field and networking referrals to UW students and UWAA members who are exploring their career options. Click for more information and online sign-up.

    Of course, if you are a UW Alumni Association member you can also take advantage of the Husky Career Connections Network to support your own career development. The network allows you to access more than 2400 UW Business School alumni, and more than 5000 contacts altogether.

    Simply log in and click on the Search link in order to browse for contacts of interest to you, based on search parameters such as UW major/degree/class year or current location/career field/position. (If you're not already a member, you can get more information and sign up online.)

    Your UW Career Homecoming

    What do more than 11,000 UW staff members have in common? They're UW graduates! If you might be interested in coming home for more than just Homecoming, stop by Your UW Career Homecoming anytime between 5 – 7:30 p.m. to learn about the advantages of working at the UW, how to apply, and where some of the hot jobs can be found. Staff from both UWAA Husky Career Connections and UW Human Resources will be on hand, including many who are also alumni.  This event is free, but advance registration is required.  All registrants will receive a free UW Alumni Career Kit packed with information and resources for the next step in your career path (courtesy of UW Alumni Association and UW Human Resources).  Light refreshments will be provided, and a no-host bar will be available.

    Gordon Browning, BA '76
    In September EvergreenBancorp announced the successful completion of its search for a new Chief Financial Officer. Gordon Browning will be joining the firm as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the company and its primary subsidiary, EvergreenBank. Browning will be helping to manage the financial strategy of one of the few remaining local, independent banks in the Puget Sound region.

    Stephen Griffin, BA '81
    The Dow Hotel Company, LLC, a hotel ownership investment and management company, recently announced that it has appointed Stephen Griffin as senior vice president of finance. In the newly created position, Griffin will be responsible for all financial aspects of the company's investor relations and acquisitions, as well as oversee the company's proprietary hotel accounting systems and reporting.

    Cathy Kusaka Fraser, BA '86
    Tenet Healthcare Corporation announced in early September that Cathy Kusaka Fraser, an expert in organization design and human talent management, will become senior vice president of human resources, effective Sept. 29. Fraser, will join Tenet from her position as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. Inc., the international consulting firm. At McKinsey, she counseled senior executives at a number of large companies on organizational design, talent management and retention strategies, recruiting, and related human resources topics. Before joining McKinsey in 2000, she worked in management positions in human resources, finance and marketing for several large companies.

    Jared Pfost, BA '95
    In late August BioPassword Inc., the only software company providing secure authentication and anti-fraud solutions based on the behavioral biometric of keystroke dynamics, announced the addition of Jared Pfost as vice president of security and product strategy.

    Pfost brings over 11 years of information security experience spanning consulting, auditing, software development and operations to BioPassword and will utilize this experience to lead Product Management in his new role. In addition to working directly with partners, customers and analysts, Pfost will be in charge of competitive positioning of both product lines.

    LibertyBank has named Brad Fenstermacher as Commercial Banking Officer for its Springfield/Gateway office.  Headquartered in Eugene, LibertyBank is the largest privately owned bank in Oregon.  Prior to joining LibertyBank, Brad was a Senior Consultant with Equarius in Bellevue, WA.

    Casey Anderson, BA '01
    After graduating, Anderson accepted a job with Enron Corp. through the on-campus interview process.  After Enron's collapse, it has been a career roller coaster ride that has included four companies in three different states.  Most recently, Anderson was working for PPM Energy, Inc., one of the leading providers of wind energy in the United States, in Portland, Oregon as a Real-time Energy Trader.  Anderson has just accepted a position at Pacificorp, one of the largest utilities on the west coast and a recent acquisition of MidAmerican Energy, a Berkshire Hathaway company, as an Energy Market Trader.

    Darryl Isip, BA '02
    In July 2006, Darryl Isip relocated and joined Barclays Bank PLC as a Senior Project Manager headquartered in London, England.  Isip was most recently with Washington Mutual Bank based in Seattle, WA managing projects within the Enterprise Contact Center and the Global Offshoring group.  In his spare time, he likes to travel to neighboring European countries on the weekends.
