    Ernest I.J. Aguilar Endowed Scholarship Picnic
    Join us as we celebrate the first endowed scholarship awarded to a Latino M.B.A. student at the UW Business School.  Join special guest Edgar Martinez in supporting this scholarship.
    Date: Saturday, September 9th
    Time: 12 – 3 p.m.
    Place: Warren G. Magnuson Park

    Alma Balmer: Young Alumni Reception
    Join fellow undergraduate business alumni from the last 10 years for a night of networking and catching up at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture on September 28th from 6-8 p.m. Please help us plan for this event by registering online.

    Dean's Business Breakfast Series Begins
    The Dean's Business Breakfast Series kicks off again this fall!  All lectures begin with a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m., and our speakers will talk from 8-9 a.m. Each talk concludes with a Q&A session.

    The cost per lecture is $17 and includes breakfast and parking.  An RSVP is requested.

    The Business School is Coming Your Way!
    That's right! This coming year, the Business School will be putting on receptions in four cities: Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Join us for a night with the Dean, networking and catching up with old friends.

    Our first event will be in San Francisco on October 26th at The City Club of San Francisco.

    Keep an eye out on our alumni Web site for dates and locations!

    Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Receives $1.5 Million
    The University of Washington Business School recently announced a gift of $1.5 million from Robert J. Herbold, managing director of Herbold Group, LLC, to establish an endowed professorship in entrepreneurship and a venture creation laboratory within the Business School's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

    Alumnus Gives $6 Million to UW Business School
    J. Gary Shansby, '59, co-founder and chairman of TSG Consumer Partners and a graduate of the University of Washington Business School, has given $1 million to establish the J. Gary Shansby Endowed Chair in Marketing Strategy and $5 million to support the school's construction of a new facility.

    As an alumnus, you will keep your UW ID and password automatically. There are three options for keeping your UW e-mail account.

    1. As a mail-forwarding address only. Does not include disk space for storing e-mail. To forward mail received by your UW e-mail address to another e-mail address, log in to http://uwnetid.washington.edu.
    2. Sign up via MyUW.net for a FREE e-mail account with 2MB of space.
    3. Sign up for a Premium MyUW.net e-mail account and receive 1GB of space, Web publishing and more.

    Updating your contact information has never been easier.  Make sure you receive all of the Business School's publications, invitations to events throughout the year and any breaking news about the school. Updating your information helps us keep our records current as well.

    Do you have news you'd like to share? Submit a class note. Tell us what major events have happened in your life: a new job, marriage, children, retirement, advanced degrees, you name it. 

    Stephen Young, B.A., '80
    One June 13, 2006, Deutsche Bank announced the addition of Stephen Young as a Managing Director and Private Banker in the New York office. Young spent more than nine years at JP Morgan, where he held a variety of positions in the London and New York offices. He most recently was Managing Director and Senior Banker in the Financial Sponsors Group. Previously, he was based in Seattle and held positions in Bank of America's Private Banking Division and Seafirst Bank.

    Rex Sherry, B.A., '85
    On July 11, 2006, Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc., announced that Rex Sherry will join its Technology, Media & Telecom Group within Investment Banking. Sherry will be joining the firm as a senior managing director and head of West Coast Technology in August from Merrill Lynch, where he has been a vice chairman in the Technology Group and the global head of the semiconductor practice.

    Cristopher Hollingsworth, B.A., '88
    On June 16, 2006, OfficeMax Contract, Inc. announced the promotion of Cris Hollingsworth to the position of Senior Director of Sales - Commercial Vertical Markets. In this role, Cris will oversee all of the Commercial Vertical Market activities for B2B sales at OfficeMax Contract. Vertical Markets include the following markets: Partner Advantage Affinity, Automotive Advantage, Healthcare Solutions, Legal Solutions, Education, Financial Services and Federal Government. Cris will continue to reside in Washington State with his office based in Itasca, Ill.

    Shyla Esko Bare, B.A., '93
    Shyla moved to Edinburgh, Scotland in 2001. While living there, she returned to university and earned a Master's in Business Administration at Napier University. Shyla and her husband are currently traveling around the world. They have visited 26 countries in the past year and will continue to travel.

    Manny Chao, B.A., '94
    Manny Chao is co-owner of Georgetown Brewing Company, located in the historic Seattle Brewing and Malting Company building, where Rainier Beer was originally brewed. The company produces Manny's Pale Ale, Roger's Pilsner, and Bob's Beer, which can be found on tap in Washington and Idaho.

    Duane Strom, B.A., '00
    Duane Strom, the former State Auditor, was selected as Director of Finance and Administrative Services for the Bremerton Housing Authority in March 2006.

    Jennifer Favre, B.A., '04
    On August 2, 2006, The Trump Organization hired Jennifer Favre for its in-house licensing team. Favre joins the company as Licensing Assistant and will work closely with the licensing team on product development, market research, assisting in design and development of presentations and other visuals for the licensing program, assisting in the management of royalties, licensee coordination and marketing budget and development. Favre joins the company from Black Nexxus, a production company and acting studio that works with high-profile actors and celebrities, where she served as Executive Assistant to the owner.
