    Dean's Business Breakfast Series
    The Dean’s Business Breakfast Series continues with on April 12th with Joseph Pakootas from the Colville Indian Reservation.

    The lecture begins with a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m. and the speaker will present from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. followed by a Q&A period. The cost per lecture is $15 and includes breakfast and parking.

    An RSVP is requested. Please call Corinne Goellnitz in the Office of the Dean at 206-221-5749 or goell@u.washington.edu.

    CEO Lunch Series
    This popular lecture series held at the Columbia Tower Club features presentations by CEOs of local companies. The series continues on April 4th with Don Nielsen of TeachFirst, Inc.

    Thursday, April 27, 2006. 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

    Calling all Business School Huskies outside Washington State.  Are you interested in connecting with other Business School Alumni in your geographic area?  Consider becoming a Business School Regional Ambassador.  Regional Ambassadors help the Business School to connect alumni to each other and the School by serving as a point of contact and/or planning get-togethers in their region.

    MBA Program Rises in Global Rankings
    The London-based Financial Times released its new global rankings for MBA programs on January 30, with the UW Business School moving up from 93 to 61 among the world's top 100 business schools.

    This year's UW MBA Challenge for Charity Auction & Gala was a record-breaking fundraiser for the organization's beneficiary charities: Special Olympics Washington and Boys & Girls Clubs of King County.

    The UW Business School hosted a candid "CEO Exchange" between Starbucks CEO Jim Donald and Nordstrom President Blake Nordstrom during a live taping of the national PBS business show January 5 at Meany Hall for the Performing Arts.

    Marcy Montgomery, MBA ‘85
    Montgomery was named the new chief operating officer for Spectra Logic, a data storage innovator, on January 19, 2006.  Montgomery joins Spectra Logic after serving as a key management leader for Agilent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard Company.

    Jim Beattie, MBA ‘89
    Beattie started a new job with the Cincinnati Reds on January 24, 2006.  As the former Baltimore Orioles general manager, Beattie has been hired as a special adviser to evaluate the club’s pitching.

    Harry Leider, MBA ‘89
    Baltimore-based XLHealth announced that Harry L. Leider, its chief medical officer, has been added to the board of directors for the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE).

    Lars Nilsen, MBA ‘89
    Jones Soda Co. announced on February 22, 2006 the hiring of Lars P. Nilsen as the new Executive Vice President of Sales. Nilsen will be responsible for all sales for the company and will be based out of the Seattle headquarters.

    Richard Conner, MBA ‘97
    Conner is working as the Vice President of Sales Operations for Philips Medical Systems.  He and his wife Leigh, live in the Seattle area, and they spend their free time climbing in North Cascades.

    Dominique Gaillard, MBA ‘97
    Gaillard has a new addition to the family and has this to report, “I adopted her on April 4, 2005 from Hunan Province in China.  The adoption process took 14 months, and she was 8 ½ months old when I got her.  Her Chinese name is Xiaohua Gaillard (“Morning Flower”) and I named her Kaeli Xiaohua Gaillard.”
