Steve Hatting named Assistant Dean of UW Business School

Steven Hatting joined the Business School as assistant dean of external relations on October 24th.

Hatting comes to the UW from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, where he was executive director of relations and oversaw development, communications and alumni services. He has more than 13 years experience in fund-raising in higher education.

Dean Jiambalvo said Hatting's comprehensive knowledge of annual giving, corporate relations, major gifts and capital campaigns will help encourage private support and enhance communications with internal and external audiences.

"We're thrilled to have Steve join our leadership team," Jimbalvo said. "He brings great experience, skills, and drive to this critical position."

As assistant dean of external relations, Hatting will direct all stewardship, alumni relations and communications projects within the Business School.

Hatting's career began at his alma mater, Iowa State University, where, as assistant director of annual giving programs, he greatly contributed to the school's capital campaign. From 1995-98, Hatting served as development director of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

"This business school is uniquely positioned at the heart of a leading university and a thriving business community," said Hatting. "I am eager to deepen connections with our alumni and business partners, both locally and around the world, as UW moves to the forefront of management education."

He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Iowa State University and is a member of Golden Key, Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Sigma Alpha National Honor Societies.
