Business Leadership Banquet a Great Success
The Business School's Business and Economic Development Program (BEDP) will host the third annual Celebration of African American Business Achievement dinner on February 17, 2005 at the Westin Hotel. This year, we will recognize and honor all African American alumni from the UW Business School who graduated in the 1970's. We currently have a list of 65 alumni but we know that there are more than 100 African American alumni who graduated in the 1970's.
The keynote speaker will be Robert Harvey, president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union. We are expecting alumni from all over the United States to attend. Some of the founding officers and members of the Association of Black Business Students (ABBS) are expected to attend.
Last year's dinner, which honored alumni from the 1950's and 1960's, drew more than 300 people. We had 12 honorees and "Trailblazers in Business." Current officers and members of ABBS served as escorts and hosts in delivering a plaque to each honoree who attended the event.
Please help us re-connect with alumni. If you know an African American alum from this era, please e-mail Professor Thaddeus Spratlen at spratlen@u.washington.edu.
