Delivering Value to Seattle Businesses Through MBA Student Consulting

In today's environment of tight budgets, restricted headcounts and overworked staff, Puget Sound area businesses are under more pressure than ever. The University of Washington MBA Program's Business Consulting Network (BCN) offers one way for companies to lighten the load: engage a team of MBA students to complete a critical project. The BCN matches student volunteers with local firms in need of part-time consulting services.

The BCN is currently accepting applications from Puget Sound businesses for the 2004-2005 academic year. Projects typically focus on a single business challenge. Examples of successful projects include financial analysis, business strategy, market research studies, market sizing and operations manuals. First year MBA students work in teams of two to four to complete project work. Student teams will evaluate and select project opportunities during the fall, and project work takes place January through March. Teams spend approximately five to eight hours per week on their BCN project in addition to their full-time MBA curriculum.

Applications are being accepted through October 22, 2004. The Business Consulting Network charges companies a $750 fee, which covers the operating costs of the program. Students work on a volunteer basis or for academic course credit. For more information, or to submit a project proposal, please e-mail mbabcn@u.washington.edu or visit the BCN website: http://students.washington.edu/mbabcn/
