Steve GillisSteve Gillis is a founder and director of Corixa Corporation, a leading Seattle-based pharmaceutical research and manufacturing company. An immunologist with more than 300 peer-reviewed publications in molecular and tumor immunology, Gillis is credited with being a pioneer in the field of cytokines and cytokine receptors. He directed the development of such drugs as Enbrel, which is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis; Leukine, which is used to treat Crohn's disease and cancer; and Prokine, another anti-cancer drug. Prior to serving as Corixa's CEO since its inception and its chairman since January 1999, he was a founder and director of Immunex Corporation, as well as its director of research and development.
