Alumnus Summa Laude Dignatus Award
The Alumnus Summa Laude Dignatus Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a University of Washington graduate and is presented annually by the UW and UW Alumni Association.
It is "designated for an outstanding alumnus or alumna, distinguished for service and achievement over a period of years since graduation from the University of Washington. It is emphasized that this award is not based on the individual's work for the preceding year, but rather on his or her lifetime record."
Since its inception in 1938, more than 70 alumni who personify the University's tradition of excellence have received this prestigious honor. View the complete list with biographies...
Before making a nomination, please read the selection guidelines.
Nominations Via Mail
In an effort to adhere to sustainable campus guidelines, the UW Alumni Association will no longer be accepting paper copies of ASLD nominations. UW staff and faculty with a UW NetID should submit materials via Catalyst's Collect-It tool. You may upload nomination forms, post scanned documents and submit a list of links via Collect-It. Once you sign in with your UW NetID, click on the ASLD assignment in the Dropbox to submit your nomination.
Outside entities wishing to submit nomination forms should use the online form found below on this site. Supporting materials such as newspaper articles, electronic files, links to articles, etc. should be scanned, attached and emailed with "ASLD" and the nominee's name in the subject line.
Use the online nomination form to submit basic information and a description of why your nominee should receive the ASLD Award. Any supporting documents (curriculum vitae, newspaper clippings, publications, etc.) must be sent by mail.
The ASLD Selection Committee is composed of 12 individuals: Six representing the UW Alumni Association and six, upon the recommendation of the Office of External Affairs, representing the University of Washington. The committee meets in February to review all nominees. Selection is generally determined in late February or early March and the winner notified shortly thereafter.
