Religion and Sports: Pilgrimage, Ritual and Piety in American Life

This spring the Comparative Religion Program is sponsoring three lectures on the relationships between Religion and Sports. What similarities exist between our modern-day American trek to the great sports arenas and an historical pilgrimage to cathedrals by the faithful? What is the role of religion in the locker room? And to what extend does religion – and which religion? – play a role in performance on the field?

Join us in exploring the views of coaches, athletes, and scholars of religion in probing these and similar questions. Ticket proceeds assist the program in supporting more public lectures on religion and public life and in course development, and faculty support.
