The alumni association has a full calendar of events and programs each year and we need volunteers like you to help make things happen.
If you see an event or program that interests you, click on the link to read a brief description of the volunteer duties available. Follow the instructions to learn more or to register with the UWAA's volunteer coordinator.

Americorps Mentors needed
When: Support teams in any stage in the process,
from considering an idea to scaling a successful venture. Office hours are Wednesdays from 3-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 12-
5 p.m., and volunteers can sign up for shifts of 1-5 hours.
Where: Americorps VISTA - Youth Venture Seattle
Job Descriptions:
Plan Review: Review Action Plans, in person or electronically, for
teams prior to their presentation at the Community Panel. Generally,
it takes one hour per plan to provide solid feedback, and these
positions usually open up within the month before a Community
Panel, which occurs five times annually.
Mock Panel: Play the role of a panelist as teams practice their
presentations and prepare for the Community Panel.
Technical Allies: Utilize specialized skills and experiences to help
teams navigate specific questions that arise. Technical Allies might
directly answer questions via email or phone, or contribute to FAQ
lists and technique guides.
"Grow Your Venture" Speaker: As part of YV's continued support
of Venture teams, these speakers help craft curriculum and
create presentations that develop in-depth understanding of topics
relevant to launching and sustaining a Venture.
Venture Coach: As part of the Dream It. Do It. Challenge, YV
brings in Coaches to serve as assistant facilitators and small group leaders.

- MLK Day of Service
The Carlson Leadership & Public Service Center and UWAA offer alumni the chance to make meaningful connections with students while contributing to the Seattle community through the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
On Jan. 15, the national MLK holiday, join fellow UW community members and volunteer to work on one of the dozens of projects around the region.

- Coaches Tour
Coaches Tour brings together UW alumni, friends and Husky coaches for a day of golf, followed by an evening dinner banquet that helps support student scholarships. These events, held each spring at various locations across the state, are co-sponsored by the UWAA and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Volunteers get involved with the event in their region and help with sponsorships, golf pairings and everything in between. This is one of our most successful volunteer opportunities!

- Commencement
As we come to the end of the school year, the University of Washington celebrates together in Husky Stadium to honor all the achievements of the graduates. Commencement is a memorable day for all, with nearly 40,000 family members and friends cheering on their love ones, and graduates proudly waiting to receive their well-earned diplomas.
Volunteer Marshals will assist with directional and lining up instructions for graduates prior to the ceremony.

- Washington Warm Ups
When the Husky football team hits the road, the UWAA organizes popular pre-game tailgate parties for UW alumni and friends. Warm Ups feature performances by the Husky Marching Band and Cheer Squad, souvenir giveaways, refreshments and lots of Husky merchandise.
Volunteers assist with event set-up and clean-up, entrance gate duties and represent the alumni association from beginning to end. Free admission into the Warm Up is included.

- Dawg Daze
Be a part of the UW's celebration to welcome nearly 7,000 incoming students as Huskies. Dawg Daze provides over 250 programs geared towards students to connect, explore and get involved in their University community. We celebrate Huskies young and old through our events.

- First Day Bagels & Coffee
First Day is the UWAA's annual kickoff to the new school year and is for new and returning UW students. Volunteers and staff members hand out coffee, bagels and campus maps to students as they arrive on campus the first morning of fall quarter.
Because everyone loves free food, volunteers are guaranteed face-time with UW students as the provide sustenance and answer questions.

- FIUTS Wednesday Lunch (year-round)
For more than 30 years, FIUTS Wednesday Lunch has been a weekly meeting place for the University of Washington international community. Wednesday lunch is a free lunch for international students, domestic students, and others who want to meet people from around the world and share their culture with others. Approximately 250-300 students attend Wednesday Lunch each week in HUB 200 ABC on the UW Campus.

- Dawg Dash
Since 1986, the UWAA has presented Dawg Dash, a 10K/5K race/walk that raises money for student scholarships. The race, which winds through the UW's scenic Seattle campus, draws over 2,300 students, alumni and friends from around the state.
Volunteers work the day of the event, helping with registration, check-in, set-up and clean-up and cheering on the participants.
