From UWAA President Clyde Walker — Sept. 2016

During these exciting and momentous times at the University of Washington (UW), the UW Alumni Association’s (UWAA) longstanding mission to support the UW and public higher education is as timely and as important as ever. Over the past few years, the efforts of my predecessors have resulted in stronger engagement with families, students and alumni, while expanding our presence and programming. As UWAA board president, I am committed to continuing to work with the board and staff to build on this positive momentum as we deepen our legacy of promoting positive change in service to our University.

Consistently recognized as one of the preeminent universities in the world, the UW has proven time and again that it has the knowledge, creativity and the heart to accomplish extraordinary things. One of our next great opportunities is to ensure that our community of students, faculty, staff and stakeholders reflects the diversity and inclusiveness that is foundational to doing the right thing, the right way.

The coming year will be about connecting as a collective body for the benefit of the UW, higher education and our state. I believe that when we come together to take action informed by dialogue, Washington excels. As a UWAA member, you play a critical role in this process. I encourage each of you to take a look at the schedule of upcoming UWAA events, lectures and programming and get involved. Connect with your fellow alumni and have fun. Be active and engaged in the Husky alumni community and see the difference we can make together.

I look forward to the challenges and achievements that we will accomplish together as we support our University’s prominent role in driving the public good.

Go Dawgs,

Clyde Walker, ’77
