UW Tacoma Professor Jim Gawel to headline KJC-UWAA's Winter Lecture at Olympic College

Jim Gawel

You are invited to join us for a very special event with UW Tacoma environmental science professor Jim Gawel, Ph.D. "Cities and the Sound: Population Growth and the Impact on Urban Waters" addresses the dilemma we face given that, by the end of this century, more than 80% of the world's population will be concentrated in urban areas, causing enormous stress on urban water systems.
Dr. Gawel, who wrote and produced the 2005 international documentary "Urban Water: Sustainability in the Balance," will discuss the impact of human population on watershed management and highlight clips from a new documentary he is currently producing on population growth and its affect on our own area's urban waters. The lecture will be held Sunday, February 24, from 1–3 pm at the Olympic College Bremer Student Center in Bremerton.
This event is FREE and open to the public, but registration is requested. For more information or to register, visit UWalum.com or call 206-543-0540. Presented in partnership with UW Tacoma, Olympic College and the Kitsap/Jefferson/Clallam County Chapter of the UW Alumni Association.
Be a part of the Husky Career Network
More than 5,000 UW alumni and friends, from 49 states and 33 countries, have volunteered to offer career assistance to their fellow Huskies. The Husky Career Network (formerly Career Connections) is growing daily, helping UW students and alumni explore career options and develop professional skills and contacts. The only thing missing is you.
If you are a UWT grad and want to know more about how you can help, visit the Husky Career Network. Consider the reward and satisfaction of signing up to become a valuable mentor to a UW student. Your desire to share your expertise and insight with younger Huskies could prove to be their ticket to greater success.
The fourth annual Washington Weekend will be held April 26-28 at all three UW campuses. Make the trek back to campus and check out all the great things we have in store: department open houses, tours, lectures, entertainment - fun for the entire family! Keep checking back at the Washington Weekend web site for more information and to see upcoming previews of special events in your area.
